Netflix and Sony’s global phenomenon — and record-breaking summer smash hit — Kpop Demon Hunters is back in theaters for a second limited-time run this Halloween weekend.
It’s no secret that Kpop Demon Hunters has achieved an astonishing number of accomplishments since its late-June debut on the global streaming platform. In response to both the film’s immense popularity and fans’ enthusiastic requests, Netflix and Sony decided to celebrate by offering something special — a limited sing-along version of the film.
And it was golden.
For one exclusive two-day run, fans across the United States were able to visit theaters and watch the HUNTR/X girls face off against the Saja Boys on the big screen — all while singing along to the iconic tracks that have dominated streaming charts (and all our playlists). Here’s hoping our favorite K-pop groups acknowledge it in their next Spotify Wrapped messages!
Despite the overwhelming excitement, the initial two-day event was somewhat restricted due to the absence of major theater chain AMC. The screenings were largely limited to Regal Cinemas and select local theaters that obtained distribution rights. As a result, showings sold out incredibly fast, prompting the addition of more screenings to meet fan demand.
Even with those limitations, Netflix and Sony went all out to ensure fans got more golden opportunities to experience this soon-to-be-classic film on the big screen.
Months later, fans’ passion for Kpop Demon Hunters hasn’t faded — if anything, it has only grown stronger. Time and unwavering fan devotion have proven that this is what a modern classic looks (and sounds) like.
With an expanding range of official merchandise now available — including Halloween costumes, light sticks, and more — fans are eager for every new way to show their love for their idols.
Sure, fans can rock their HUNTR/X costumes out on Halloween night, but why not wear them to a screening of the film itself?
That’s right — Netflix and Sony are once again bringing Kpop Demon Hunters back to theaters.
What better night to face off against demons than Halloween itself? From October 31 through November 2, the summer hit returns to select theaters across the country.
This limited weekend run includes participating locations from major chains such as AMC, Regal, and Cinemark. Tickets go on sale Friday, October 17 at 6:00 a.m. PST — find a theater near you here.
Fans outside of the U.S. and Canada can also celebrate, as screenings are planned for the U.K., Ireland, Korea, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand.
As someone who attended the first limited run, I can personally attest to what a magical experience it was to see this beloved film alongside other fans. Being surrounded by people singing every lyric made it clear — the honmoon has been sealed. Kpop Demon Hunters is something truly special that lives in so many hearts. A film destined to make history.
